Review of Wartie Wart & Verruca Remover

Not the nicest of subjects to discuss but needs must. There always seems to be one or another of the kids with at least one verruca and poor little one of them right now has about 8 across her feet. It is for this reason that I happily said yes to review a new product on the market called Wartie.

Wartie uses cryotherapy (freezing) to remove the wart or verruca. We have been using Bazuka extra strength gel on some of the verrucas for about a year now and there has been no improvement so I figured it was worth trying another method out.

Wartie is super easy to use, you press down the lid and turn for 3 seconds and you hear it start to hiss, you then allow it to sit for a couple of seconds and use the metal tip to precisely apply the freezing to the exact site of the verruca or wart. If you press lightly it will freeze a smaller area than if you press firmly. You should apply for 20 seconds for a wart and 40 seconds for a verruca and it is amazing just how long this feels when you are holding it to a child's foot!

Wartie claims that it has outstanding freezing performance and can successfully remove a wart or verruca with one treatment, but you can treat additional times if necessary and you have to leave it about 14 days between treatments.

I first froze three verrucas about three weeks ago and sadly two of them are still there, but these are ones that have been there for about a year, so I figure they are stubborn and need some more applications to shift them. I therefore made another application a few days ago and am yet to see the results. One of the verrucas did disappear within a couple of weeks of the first application but this was a much newer one, so perhaps the key is to use the Wartie product when the verruca is new.

You can see how easy the product is to activate and use by watching this short video -

I tried to find where you could buy Wartie in the UK and my goggling came up with very little. I can see it for sale direct from the manufacturer on eBay for £13.99 for a 50ml canister which is says will give 18 treatments and the Wartie website says it is on sale in larger Boots stores but it does not appear to be available from Boots online.

I found Wartie an easy product to use and my daughter told me it tickled rather than hurt her. I think it is a well priced product given how many applications it can make and I like the fact that the application tip is very precise and therefore lessons any risk of burning unaffected skin around the verruca or wart. Wartie is suitable for children aged 4 plus years

July 2014 update - we used Wartie a number more times on veruccas that have been around for a while and sadly they are all still there, so personally I won't be buying this again.

Disclosure: I was sent the Wartie product free of charge for the purpose of this review. I have not been instructed what to write and I remain honest.

  4. After my third application can definitely see the wart is going & it's better than any gels ive used. sometimes these things do take time but they shouldn't be advertised that it can go after one application, best to go to the GP to get it frozen if they still do that?!

  5. I have tried everything over the past 5 yrs, going to the podiatrist once a fortnight for months at £16 a time, wasted sooo much money. So I think whatever you do, perseverance is the key, I have not tried Wartie yet but if it is a bit more precise and does not damage the surrounding skin, then it is worth a shot.

  6. This product is simply nonsense, do not waste your money in the trash. I use since November 2014 and now in May 2015, makes nothing improvement in my thumb. :(

  7. Careful with the overly general criticism! This product does work but for me it took three "goes" since the wart reappeared - smaller each time but still there - after the first two treatments. The third treatment got it!!! You need to hold the tip against your skin for longer then the instructions tell you too. It may even hurt but keep it on the wart to the point of freezing the skin and epidermis quite thoroughly. Leave 2-3 weeks between treatments (where I applied it twice over two days). It stung after treatment like a localised burn would - and when the skin blistered and died, I nipped it off with tweasers taking the wart with it. Hardly pleasant - but very cheap and effective way to get rid of an unsightly (and easily spread) wart. The product DOES work. It just takes some patience and perserverence. There is no magic to this. It requires the wart to be killed off and removed with the immediately surrounding tissue.

    1. I'm pleased to hear it worked for you. I wouldn't say my review was overly critical, it states the plus points as well as the negatives. It worked on one verucca for our family and no more despite lots of appications. These are stubborn verucca though as the one in the picture above is still there now despite cryo at the doctors on dozens of occasions too. Mich

  8. I bought Wartie as it combined two things I've found useful. I tried numerous things and i got to using gas from a butane refill and metal as a cold conductor. And it works a treat. PS you do have to cut away the dead layers of skin before you do a new freezing. If you are trying to freeze through thick, blackened and rough skin then it wil not work.

  9. The best thing we found was nail varnish and emla cream... Cover the verruca fulling in dark nail varnish with three coats for two days, third day remove the varnish by scraping it lightly with emery board or tweezers.

Put emla cream on and file down as far as comfortable, recover with three coats and repeat... Within a week we were able to literally pick the verruca off like a scab :)

  10. A waste of money. The tip does not get cold enough to freeze anything. Whats more I cannot contact the company to provide feedback. I suspect they no longer exist due to the faulty product. Spend your money on something else!!

  11. I too have had no luck removing a stubborn wart on my 8yo sons hand. I've hit it with Wartie 4 times now and it will not budge. Slightly annoyed because the pharmacy assistant attested to have personally used the product with success on the first try.
