7 Great Venues to Host your Work Team Building Day in the South East

Team building days at work - you either love them or you hate them!

Done well, I think they are pretty amazing and definitely a way to help you get to know your fellow workers and start to understand what makes them tick. Prior to leaving the University when we moved here I organised a team-building day for our busy HR and development department and it was a tad daunting as so many people were specialists in developing others but luckily all went well and it was probably one of my greatest achievements in my ten year career there.

Our Director had said we had to have at least half a day spent doing work based activities and then half day of pure fun. So the morning was spent doing various team tasks and working with some fabulous facilitators to help us all think through the customer experience. Who was our customer and what did they expect and how could we impact the wider aims of the University?

For lunch we went to the student refectory and ate with the students as I wanted everyone to be able to experience the service our ultimate customers receive. Luckily I was able to choose this option as the eating facilities we excellent and this meant we could all have a really enjoyable meal from the very wide variety serviced.

It was the afternoon that was the best fun though. I had put all our staff into teams and they have chosen team names and colours and made mascots etc if they so wished and then we had an afternoon of fun and laughter 'It's a Knock Out' style. The Hertfordshire Sports Village (Hatfield) did an amazing job organising this and making it all seamless and great fun. So they are the first venue I'd happily recommend.

If you are planning a team building day for your work then why don't you check out VenueFinder  as they have very extensive listings for the UK and abroad and will be sure to help you find somewhere perfect.

Emirates Stadium (London N7)
if you are looking for a venue with the wow factor then this might be with you, especially if you have some Arsenal fans within your workforce. The Hub, is a new versatile event space, created with team building activities in mind. The 50 metre by 18 metre 4G pitch can double up to host any number of popular team building activities, including dodgeball, archery, netball and even duck herding, as well as football.

Friends House (London, NW1)
Set in the heart of London, right opposite Euston station this massive venue is so versatile and can be used in many ways. I recall my husband and his workmates being part of a photo rally around London and the winning team gaining a prize and the home base was Friends House.

Ashburnham Place (Battle, East Sussex)
Set in 220 acres of beautiful East Sussex countryside this venue is perfect if you fancy combining indoor and outdoor activities. The lakes provide great fun with raft building, swimming and kayaking whilst you can enjoy the low-ropes course, biking and archery on land.

Arena Pursuits (Bewl Water, Kent)
If you fancy a high intensity day then a day with Arena Pursuits might be the right choice for you. hey are the leading outdoor pursuits company in the South East and offer a massive variety of activities and events. Bushcraft, team games, Bond days, It's a Knockout, paintball - you name it, they do it all.

Denbies Wine Estate (Dorking, Surrey)
This venue has to be top of my list. How much fun to do your team building day and to include a vineyard tour or wine tastings, pretty cool, right? Again they have lots of variety of hosted events for you to choose from - treasure hunt, cheese making, balloon challenge or a music workshop.

Thorpe Park or Chessington (Surrey)
You can have some amazing and fun corporate days at the big theme parks and they are savvy to the amount of companies wanting to host team building days now and have loads of fun days planned, particularly good for if you want a lot of people to take part at the same time.

Whatever kind of day you choose to organise. I hope it all goes really well for you and your aims are achieved. Have fun, Mich x
